Today in Gaming - 4/15/11: Wii 2 Rumors and 4 Million LittleBigPlanet Levels

Despite the naysayers, it's highly likely that Nintendo will be announcing its new console at E3 in June. What's unclear is which rumors to believe. A controller with a touchscreen of some sort makes sense, but that it would be high definition doesn't seem probable if only because of the price that would be involved. A camera seems a bit bizarre to have in a controller but it could have its uses. It sounds like a six-inch screen, plus buttons, would be a bit unwieldy in your hands, which is odd because part of the Wii's triumph stemmed from the simplicity of the Wii remote. Many people are counting Nintendo out with this new console, but it was less than a decade ago, when it was struggling to find success with the GameCube, that it debuted the Wii and DS, both of which weren't immediately deemed guaranteed successes. The new system might sound strange, but before jumping to any conclusions, make sure to remember the success that Nintendo has had this generation by doing things differently.
