With the combination of the insane sales record of Call of Duty, plus the wide breath of crazy games (both original endeavors and sequels), writers and gamers are fond of proclaiming games as either "art," or at the very least, the next big cultural movement. Such efforts to make games A Big Deal tend to lead into mixing elements from other popular culture -- movies, music, text -- with video games. So for as many of these collaborations and mixes that work, there are also numerous instances of someone or thing crossing over from books, films, or songwriting, that simply trigger a "WTF" reaction.
